ABOUT JANELLE R. BAKER, Ph.D.

She grew up in the small town of Inverness, FL. Her family worshipped on Sundays in Dunnellon, FL, where her grandparents lived. Soror Baker is a product of the "Lincoln Park" neighborhood village. Her mother died when she was 14, and she is thankful for her village. Soror Baker is a business owner and clinical director, where she provides psychiatric-mental health services for ADHD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and substance use disorder, among others.

She is a proud United States Navy Veteran and has championed access to quality healthcare as a board-certified nurse practitioner across settings, including primary care, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. Soror Baker has been educating nurse practitioner students since 2005, teaching at Florida A&M University, Florida State University, Alcorn State University, and Chamberlain University. Earlier this year, Soror Baker was selected for the 2026 cohort of the McNeal Leadership and Public Policy Mentoring Fellowship.

Family means everything to her. She is a mother, sister, aunt, and so much more. She is the baby of the family, with one older brother and one older sister. A lover of all music genres, she is often caught vibing to Southern Soul and R&B. Soror Baker loves spending time with family and attending sporting events. During the fall season, you can find her in football stadiums cheering on Florida A&M, Southern, and Florida State Universities.
